Mandrel bending can be worth the added process control when small-diameter tubing needs tighter radii, better shape retention, or cleaner repeatability through the bend.
The question is not whether mandrel bending is always better. It is whether the part needs what mandrel bending is designed to protect.
Compact routing, appearance-sensitive bends, and assemblies that depend on more controlled bend shape are all common reasons to evaluate a mandrel process.

If the radius is generous and the application is more forgiving, another bend method may support the part more efficiently. Geometry should drive the choice.
Share diameter, material, radius requirements, end conditions, and any dimensions that are especially sensitive. That allows the fabricator to assess whether mandrel support is really needed.
